I lost it today:

I had thought, until today that, I was an angel of mercy. Alas, the angel failed.

Last night from midnight to 6:00am, mom called on me three times translating into no sleep for me. Mom then decided to get up at 8:15am. Our agreement was that I could sleep in till 8:00am every morning. When I insisted on 45 minutes more sleep till 9:00am, mom screamed out. "pack your stuff and get out of my house if you don't like the conditions here." I then lost it and called my mom a "selfish bitch." Naturally, that did NOT go over well but, I was miffed to say the least.

I can tell this day will be a downer already.

What's that old saying...something about watching the words you say that you will end up eating them?

So what are You doing to get mom on the "nutrition" program - so she -- will feel -- BETTER -- all around ???

When a person has less PAIN and STRAIN she/he wont SCREAM so much.

I go up at 4 and then back to bed. 7 - 8 sounds about a right time to RISE AND SHINE, provided it is not a RAINY DAY.

Find out the PAIN - SCORE for Your mother so You know when she is about to SCREAM and when she is feeling BETTER. I just invented that idea.

Report Your PROGRESS asap. N3RF

She's on a nutrition program locally called "Meals on Wheels." They deliver once a week, seven days of complete, balanced diet. Only problem: she prefers my lousy cooking to Meals on Wheels.

I rate my cooking skills akin to a Human Rights Violation.

Then again, I haven't tasted Talula's spaghetti or River's legendary pancakes as so many other lucky souls have.

No dear Wolfi, I don't mean a "balanced meal" but a supplemental program that make sure she gets the Trace Elements and other supplements that many years and aging has made her loose.

I am also thinking about the "secred Guide To Health" You can get from my friend WayneGreen.com and the ideas accumulated in it - the 1oo books You and I should have read. I also bought the Colloid of SIlver kit from him so I make my own every 2 weeks for me and my wife. One teaspoon - three teaspoons of this Distilled Water with its 30 million very tiney Silver Particles in it, reuces the Bugs in Your system so that Your health has a chance to improve. Lots of new knowledge out there ( right here before Your nose ) and it all ties together nicely to a steadily IMPROVED health. I take most days also a 3 mile walk and by Gosh my legs and feet are feeling much better. One side-effect of reading EA and Typing too much ..Hi (just kidding) N3RF

Mac,

If you were a Catholic, you would be a candidate for sainthood for all of the care and kindness that you have been showing to your mother. I know her condition has deteriorated since I saw her last, and I couldn't imagine how you were doing as well as you were then.

I hope that the two of you manage to share a very pleasant Thanksgiving.

Hmmmmm Saint Mac has a nice ring to it.

However, with my luck and considering I'm 6' 2" and waver from 230 to 244 pounds, I'd be called..... Saint Big Mac...... Nah

This mornng I thought I would do something different and nice for my mother. I fixed her breakfast-in-bed complet with eggs, hash browns, toast, bacon, coffee and dessert.

About an hour after breakfast and until this evening, I heard the same harrangue: "If you made me breakfast-in-bed, it must mean that you want to get rid of me."

Somehow, the logic of her argument escapes me, but then I know little on the subject of gerentology. I do know that I never plan to cook her breakfast-in-bed again.

I guess the great Riverwind was correct: "No good deed ever goes unpunished."

I'd like to say I live in "Wine Country" but I unfortunately live instead in "Whine Country."

Ever since Mom awoke at 10:20am, she has been in a continuous state of whining..."where are my dogs, I wanna go home, you've kidnapped me" and so on.

The dogs are in the house not ten feet from mom. She's in her own house.

As Jesus reads this he's probably thinking, "been there, done that."

Yup! Been there.... Done that. Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better. You are clearly a candidate for sainthood - even though you're not a Catholic.

Fortunately, being canonized does not require being shot from one.

Hey Jay, no problem..."I'll convert, I'll convert."

From 1965-1968 I dated Verlane, a nice Roman Catholic girl. We were to get married but......things happened. I almost cOnverted to Catholicism and would have had I known about the Flaming Nun.

Fortunately, after dinner the whining stopped. UNFORTUNATELY, she nagged me from 6:30pm to 7:45pm to take her home. I played along saying, "okay mom, what address do you want to go to...I'll drive you."

BIG MISTAKE...For an hour she would tell me she didn't know what city or address of this other house but I was to take her there. I tried to use logic (futile) and tell her I'd never been there and since I didn't have an address I couldn't take her there. Undeterred, she nagged, "well, ask somebody for directions." You know this might actually have been hilarious if I hadn't been involved in it. I could be looking at River going through this and go "tee hee hee" but having experienced it first hand, there were moments I thought of skydiving off a bridge without a chute...

Then rationale hit....I'm scared of heights and I can't swim.

Maybe tomorrow will be better...then again....I should learn to swim.

Be proactive --- tell HER where it is at and direct the conversation, don't ply it to her. Oh, yeah, that is the place down next to Henry's - you know - that guy you thought was so good at cutting hair.... etc... Let it flow, just like a healthy stream of bullshit

You could get her out of bed, telling her to hurry, drive her around the block then put her back in bed and say "isnt it great to be home in your own bed"?

She may just think your the greatest or she might think your nuts.

Never, never violate Rule #37.

Rule #37 says NEVER give your 92 year mother a narcotic no matter how much neck pain they say they are experiencing.

Earlier, mom had severe neck pain from an old injury. After an hour of whining I relented and gave her one of her darvocets. Within 45 minutes I was experiencing a tirade from her on how I had poisoned her, poisoned the cat, poisened the dogs and poisoned the monkey. (We don't have a monkey).

When mom first went to hospital two years ago for an hair fracture on her left hip, her doctor had given her demoral for pain...bad mistake. That evening when I arrived to visit her, I heard horror stories from her that her nurses were trying to murder her and other such claims.

When I questioned her doctor about her behavior, he said, "some seniors react very negatively to narcotics and become psychotic."

Normally, mom can take Darvocet if she's in a good mood and in an upward mood swing. Tonight however, She was in a downward swing, mood wise

Live and learn.

Me, too. That's what I want to know. Did you bury it in the back yard after you poisoned it?

To be truthful, I placed the deceased monkey in a shipping container, added several scented pinecones in case it began to smell, sealed the package with Canadian duct tape and mailed it to A-1.

If it arrives at A-1's house before Christmas, he can stuff it in that pair of pantyhose hanging over the mantle. Who knows, grandpa might appreciate a dead monkey better than a doll named Louise :P

River

Gee, River is smarter than he looks :)

When I first read his idea about driving mom around the block and back home again I thought to myself "dumb idea."

However,

This morning mom was in one of her whining moods demanding I take her home. She didn't have an address but said, "You idiot, I'll give you directions to my house." I put her in the car, drove a few blocks away and she directed me right back here to her home." She seemed satisified.

I guess what they say is right..."old dark bearded men are brillant."😄

And Mac-ee, you murdered the monkey? How dare you?!

For shame!

I'm calling PETA and SPCA right now!
