Gee, River is smarter than he looks

When I first read his idea about driving mom around the block and back home again I thought to myself "dumb idea."

However,

This morning mom was in one of her whining moods demanding I take her home. She didn't have an address but said, "You idiot, I'll give you directions to my house." I put her in the car, drove a few blocks away and she directed me right back here to her home." She seemed satisified.

I guess what they say is right..."old dark bearded men are brillant."

I doubt if it will ever happen again, but today with mom was GREAT.

There were no psychotic outbursts, no major lapses of memory, no arguments, no accusations...it was just a mother and son getting along like the olde days.

MacTheWolf knocks on wood.

The PLAN was to shut the dogs outside, shut the cat into the bedroom and seal the bottom of the door with a wet towell, dress mom, put her in the car, go back in the house and set off the roach bombs in the kitchen, leave the house for 2-3 hours to go pay gas, electric, phone, edison and cable bills, then go grocery shopping, then come home, air out the house, and take mom back in.

Yup, that was the plan and mom agreed to it this morning before I went to the bank. When I returned from the bank, Mrs. Hyde had replaced Mrs Jeckyl. She did't want to go shopping or leave the house. She didn't recognize me either.

I had already told Inland Home Health I was roach bombing the house today but it looks like it will be tomorrow. However, the bills are so far behind, they have to be paid today.

If I can talk mom into going with me to pay bills, that will be the ideal. If she refuses to go with me, she'll be here alone with the phone turned off. If I don't turn off the phone, she calls the police telling them she's been kidnapped and I have to deal with them when I get home. The police have been called 12 times by her since July 2005.

I'm glad yesterday was such a great day... though, I would have gladly skipped it if I had known what today was going to be like.

Mom agreed to go in the car...I paid a few bills, did grocery shopping and fogged the house...Mom is still pissed but, that's the norm.

Dear Mac and MOM - a Good NEW YEAR 2007 - and don't forget to get her off "drugs" that leave a nsty sideeffect like mods etc and get her on something like the Product NatursFirstFood that I understand gives You the spectrum of nutrients. Vitamin World has a similar product but not sure how they compare.

I am also trying Cyanee Pepper that has some real health benfits - one spoon in a glass of V8 , but Vitamin World had a Pill that did the same thing without "stinging" in Your throat for a short moment.

My wife was born in 23 and she is strong and still "beats me up", but the mood swings I think are due to Drug (medicin side-effects) that comes and goes.

My NEW YEARS resolution is to be nice to her regardless of the moods, so I will try harder. Regards N3RF

She was asleep when I decided to sneak a catnap 30 minutes ago. When I heard her calling me I went to see what she wanted Whatever it was, she couldn't speak...just a monotone drawl...

I called paramedics on 911 just to get their opinion. They said they are used to stroke victims having this condition. They called it somehing like AID... Attention Interruption Deficit.

I'll go see her in the hospital after the doctors have time to check her out. She'll probably be back home within 3-5 hours.

I saw mom today. Naturally, she's frantic to get out but as the doctors told me, no release till tommorrow when they have the results of an M.R.I. they are doing today.

Good News: I pick up mom at 6:00pm today to take her home. Whatever caused her nonability to talk appeared to be minor.

Bad News: They "almost" didn't release her her to me because of two concerns:

(1) They wondered if she was getting adequate intake of food. I explained that she gets three meals a day. A typical day's food is...

Breakfast - one egg, three slices of bacon or sausage and toast.

Lunch - A sandwich of either bolonga, ham, chopped egg or tuna

Dinner - Some type of potato, green vegetable and ground beef.

(2) Their second concern was our infestation with cockroaches. I tried roach bombing every room to no avail...they were back in force two days later. The only real way would be to tent the house for two days and gas the little bastards to death plus their unborn. The PROBLEM is the expense.

Mom's income is $1,100 a month which covers our utilities, food, gas for car, my tobacco, etc. The costs to tent would be something like:

$600-$900 for the three day process.

$300 to board the animals for 3 days

$250 to house mom and I in a nearby motel for three days while the house is being gassed. We have no nearby relatives to stay with.

Hence the expense of tenting is just too damn expensive for us. If I knew of another solutiuon, I'd go for it.

If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

But, at least, mom will be coming home

Well look around in the Dollar-Store and find some TRAPS. If I recall the

Mouse Traps was very inexpensive there and so must be their Bug traps. The FORMAL business way is always very expensive so try the Inexpensive trap approach and let us know.

Yes looking at the Menu that MOM gets, this don't sound like much of a HEALTH diet. I am sure with some supplements like a multiple, some Q10 and extra B12, Some Ester C and Niacin, etc You get some improvements also.

What is the favorit food that MOM likes ?? Are You the Chef and the Cook ??

Traps work fine on der mousies but there's no cheap way to rid oneself of those damned roaches nor any trap for them.

Probably quite true. I've cleared them out of houses before with copper sulfate. In some cases I drilled holes in each wall cavity and poured the stuff in with a funnel. Don't know if it is readily available anymore in hardware stores. Course it is rather toxic, so contact needs to be watched. Otherwise, my ex used a shotgun once to do the job - didn't work though, but it brot the cops and a night in detox.... I suspect he may have encountered a few critters in there as well

No I am sure You can contact an Entymologist ? at the National Science Foundation someplace and they will design the TRAP or advice You what to do without Chemicals in the living space of Yours.

There is knowledge out there and all You got to do is to ask for it...N3RF
