Are they free? (The best things in life...)

Those things are almost as much fun as bubble wrap :D

It twas a hot Sunday afternoon today when I realized I was almost out of tobacco. You see, nicotine helps keep me sane in my current socio-economic situation with caring for mom. I decided to drive the three miles to my tobacconist. Six blocks from my destination, I saw the red light of the fuzz in my rearview mirror.

The female police officer was very professional, polite and friendly. She cited me for expired registration and expired insurance. I have till mid-September to take care of it. It was only a fixit ticket, so once I get car insurance and the car registered, there will be no fine.

I think she felt sorry for me as my hand was shaking as I signed the ticket. A nerve-wracking experience. It was only my second ticket in 15 years, the first being for "driving without a seatbelt." I wear the seatbelt every time now.

I hate those red lights in my mirror. I'd much prefer a Red Nun in a Red Truck waving an electric saw.

Whenever I get depressed about my bizarre life, I think "things could be worse." I could be a Sybil with three distinct personality disorders.

I could be a wolf with the characteristics of Christina, Riverwind and Krister, in my body. And if I inherited their particular quirks and maladies, I'd really be in trouble.

I'd have Christina's flaming red her and her herinated disc and dislocated shoulder. Riverwise, I'd have his agoning back pain from which he gets little relief except from intermittent cortizone injections. And then there's my Kristoff personality: my overwheling desire to wait on mom hand and foot and complete my grocery shopping wearing a red nun's habit.

On the positive side, who's going to mess with a pipe smoking 60 year old gray-haired and bearded nun carrying an assortment of power tools :)

Here's a giggle for Daughter:

Daughter:

You'd love me as I'm hung like a horse.

Positive - I'm hung like a Prehistoric Horse and ready to rock.

Negative - That Prehistoric horse was called Eohippus (Dawn Horse) and it was rather tiny. It stood at only 12-inches tall... hence it's penis was only ....well, you get the idea :P

Well, that's really too bad! lol

But in my experience, I've come to understand that size doesn't matter. If you don't know what you're doing with it nothing will help.

Not the longest running active thread (I believe that is Phillip), but the most responses to a thread is Mackies claim to a record, as far as I can see....

Mom's lawyer called to tell me court date has been changed from August 13 to October 1 for the following reasons:

* I have yet to secure a $300,000 bond

* I haven't applied for Med-i-cal for mom yet. I pick up the paperwork for Med-i-cal today.

The $300,000 bond...........hmmmm... depends on how much I have to lay out. If it's 1%...forget it. If it's one tenth of a percent, maybe I can hock something. I'll call bond companies and see what's what.

Isn't life a gas :P

Mac, I think you are screwed. I doubt that anyone would give you a $300,000 bond based upon your lack of credit and financial resources. Rectum gas - that's what it is.:-\

Rectum gas...hmmmmm

If it can be bottled and if it's explosive, we could use it on the Taliban.

"Supposedly" required by the court. I need it, according to a court clerk, so I can borrow money on mom's behalf. Mom's lawyer says that too.

All greek to me but, I'll apply for one.

If wonder if it would help if I told the bonding company:

* I know hundreds of eunuchs

* I talk to a red nun armed with power tools.

Now that is a winning idea! 💡

Mac--

I presume you've done a search on google for [conservatorships "Los Angeles"] and read some of the info. I'm not an expert on conservatorships and guardianships in California, but one of the websites says that the judge can waive the bond requirement (which I would guess is unlikely, particularly since your mother owns the house) or reduce the amount of the bond. If you can get somebody to represent you in court, you could probably petition for reduction in the amount of the bond, and, as an outside chance, to have the bond requirement waived. People are granted conservatorships every day without posting bond, although perhaps not in California.

Hope the Medi-Cal application went through for your mother. As you are aware, the level of care required increases as Alzheimer's progresses, and it should be a help to you as well as to her if she is approved for the program.

Mom has a doctor's appointment at 2:30pm today. I went out to check the car and had a flat. I looked in the trunk and the donut was dead too. When AAA roadside service arrived, they refused to take a tire off my car to put it on mom's car (I drive mom's car as mine died). Both use 187x70. AAA truck left.

I then took tire off my car for AAA guy to inflate and put on. I'm waiting for AAA truck now. With luck, my tire will inflate and we'll make mom's appointment only a few minutes late. I'll update as soon as I have word.

If it wasn't for days like this, life would bo so boring - :P

A miracle happened: the tow truck arrived and changed the tire so we were only three minutes late to the doctor appointment.

However, and there's always a however :P, the car overheated on the way home. Halfway home I stopped and refilled the radiator with the engine running. I always carry 2-3 bottles of water with me out of habit.

We arrived home safely. Mom is crabby but well.

BTW, last Sunday mom turned 93 years old.

I should live so long :)

Last night mom kept me up all night with whining. To be perfectly honest, if I had to face the judge today, I'd say mom needs to be in a locked facility under psychiatric care for the rest of her life.

Then again, I haven't had sleep in the last 48+ hours, so I'm sure that fact is affecting my judgement.

Maybe if I can catch 40 winks today, I'll think differently.

A new fun problem has arisen. My comode in the middle bathroom is leaking out water at the rate of one gallons per hour. I reached back and turned off the shut off valve, but nothing happened and the leak continues.

I went out outside and shut off the water to the house, and nothing, The leak continues. I assume it's leaking out of the porcelain. Maybe the commode itself is cracked on the bottom but I can't see any crack.

So I placed a pan to catch at much water as possible as to not furher threaten the foundation of the house. I'd call a plumber but this month is going to be tighter than last month as I need to buy a tire, buy car insurance and pay basic car registration.

Anyone out therre with plumbing experience? I could use the advice.

Postscript: I feed mom Breakfast and THANKGAWD she can't gripe and eat at the same time :) Thank gawd for small miracles.
