As of Wednesday morning, I was going to pat myself on the back for having $100 leftover this month to pay towards the new $150 bill I'll have each month towards the Nursing Home court agreement.

Then at midnight, my VCR/DVD crashed...sorta. I put in an old tape, and now it won't run, turn on or off, or eject the tape. Since I can't live without a VCR, I have one of two choices: (1) call TV/VCR places to see what they'll charge to come out and get the tape out or (2) Call a few retail stores and see what a new VCR/DVD runs or even just a VCR alone.

I hoping for a bill of less than $100 either way.

Lately, I feel more like the bug than the windshield.

Thanks to MANY FRIENDS, magic, luck and a few miracles, this old buzzard with galloping senility is back online.

I'm so dumb that it took me 20 minutes to figure how to get on the internet let alone find the EA Boards. Now, my next quest is trying to figure out how to get back to the chatroom and locate Yahoo Messenger.

I gave Ken_SD my old computer in the "hope" he can download my old iMac 9.2 hard drive onto CD discs which I can then upload to my new OSX hard drive. It contains about 25 years of files maybe 50,000 pages plus. If the old hard drive is toast, I can re-enter all the data by hand...but it might take me about 5-10 years.

I'm happy for the moment to be online, on the Boards and finding my gmail.

Now to go looking for Messenger, my Yahoo mail account and a path into the chatroom.

On mom, she is in a nursing home (temporarily) that is 12 miles away. I've walked 5-6 miles in a day but 12 is too much for even this slim, trim, athletic *cough* figure of a wolf.

Tomorrow, I have a 3:00pm appointment at the nursing home to discuss mom's treatment program. They want me to sign some paperment but I REFUSE to sign anything that gives me financial responsibility. Her doctor signed her into the Grand Terrace Nursing Home without my consent.

On the negative side, I'm shelling out an extra $150 a month to her old nursing home where she over-stayed her visit. Total bill is $3,000+.

On the positive side: (1) mom is requalified for Medi-Cal now (2) I might be be able to take 4 different busses to tomorrow's meeting at the nursing home and see mom too.

BTW, not being able to get online really SUCKS. I learned what depression really was without a working computer and a working VCR.

Good to hear from you. My DVD and computer are what my tricycle was when I was four-years-old--comfort food. My PC is still crashing.

So far, I've found the EA Boards, the chatroom, my Yahoo mailbox, my G-mailbox, BME, Yahoo Messenger and finally figured out how to create a file. Creating folders was easy...it was one of the choices across the top of my OSX-10.5 desktop under File. Finding a page to type on took...well, too long, but I found it. A friend gave me a shorter way to find it by typing in "Command n."

Ken_SD says my HD survived my computer's death and he's going to download it onto an external HD and bring it up to me around Christmas .

With a working DVD/VCR now and a new iMac, I'm a happy wolf. Now if I can just learn this new OSX system better. Then again, I've only had it for 13 hours. It make take a few days, weeks to get the hang of it.

Bathrooms? OSX comes with a bathroom? News to me but anything is possible.

I took three busses and walked the last mile and a half to get to mom's nursing home. I told them I wanted mom home by Friday or Monday. They will call me and tell me when she can leave. It seems mom owes them over $1,000 too...and that's after medical pays their share....wonderful

On the lighter side of life, I exercised this body today (unintentionally.) I missed the bus home and was forced to walk home from Grand Terrace in the dark about 12+ miles. Took me 4 hours due to 61 year old legs. I arrived home about 7:30pm and remembered there was no dog food. I walked another 6 blocks total there and back to the grocery. I'm happy, the dog is happy but my legs and feet are dead.

Theoritically, mom can come home Friday. However, I can't go get her. The best but expensive option is a special handicapped van that costs $200 to cover 13 miles. As I don't have that much, I'll send her a local taxicab to bring her home which only costs $25. She'll probably freak out either way. The nursing home says I will owe them more than $1,000 because her Medi-Cal only payed a portion. Fortunately, I refused to sign any financial paperwork at the nursing home, so I'm not personally liable this time.

Mom's nursing home just called and nixed my taxi idea. They said a special van will send her home tomorrow for $41.00. I said, OK. She should be home by 2:00pm.

The nursing home said, "if you want your mom home Friday, it will cost $62 but if you can wait till Monday, then it's only $40." I said Monday was fine.

Mom's sitting in own favorite living room chair rattling off sentences in a language I can't understand. Hopefully, her grammar returns or we'll have few conversations, well....few two-sided ones.

Zyprexa 5mg - daily - for psychosis

I always stay clear of this area of the message board. But I did here that Wolfies Mom came home today and wanted to express and give my well wishes to him and his mother. I had the pleasure to meet her last summer at one of the MOM events. There is a very deep love Wolfie has with his mother. I know how very much he misses her when she is away. With all the problems she gives, Wolf still loves and cares for her each and every day. Few people give so much of them self as he gives to his mother.

Mom is stronger and can walk on her own some. On the negative, she's refusing to take most of her meds. Today she took her blood pressure meds but not the anti-psychotic meds.

Today, mom's favorite nurse, Frankie, showed up to bathe her and get her vitals. Mom has always loved Frankie in the past but today it was like a bull seeing red. Mom cursed at Frankie, threw the thermometer onthe floor, ordered her to get out and was rude all the time she was here.

On the plus side, I guess you have to be feeling better to be cranky and nasty

Also on the plus side, sorta: Frankie was once thought to be an angel by mom and I was the DEVIL. Now the roles are reversed: good for me but bad for Frankie.

I had mentioned before that mom's speech was mostly incoherrent but her use of "curseology" was letter perfect. I wonder why that is?

My grandmother was the same way after several strokes. Only words that came out somewhat right were the very colorful ones. Seem strange but the nurse said it is common for some reason.

There is one thing I definitely don't understand about mom's condition. 99.9% of what flows from her lips is complete gibberish.

However, her swear words come out perfect. She can bleat out Gawd Dammit and other such choice words with perfect enunciation.

Fortunately, I'm not the receipient of the cursing. That lucky person is Frankie, the bathing nurse she used to love more than life itself and now seems to hate her?
