Now I don't have the $100 minimum needed to open up a credit union account so this cycle of indebtedness goes on for another month.

Beginning to sound like the ole company store at the coal mining sites we read about. :(

cancel the account with wells fargo...get the check delivered to you and start over. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr If the ram was out there they would feel the horn.👹

Unhappily, the bank is well within their rights to do what they are doing. there are no laws or regulations to restrict what fees a bank may charge. Wells-Fargo might not let you cancel your account if they think that you will owe them money when it is cancelled. For even more bad news they might want to start charging a fee just to keep the account open. You need to go o the sleaziest TV station in town and offer them the story of how the bank has taken advantage of an old, confused, disadvantaged citizen (you). You also need to have social security stop sending your money to that bank and at the same time make a complaint that the bank is stealing funds from you. Also, it is time to complain to the state/county agency that oversees protection of vulnerable seniors for, in this case, that is what you are. AARP will help you with this process (they may even have a local chapter). Taking advantage of vulnerable seniors is a crime. Wells-Fargo has no interest in sortin out the situation, their only interest is in grabbing as much money as possible. Pressure must be brought against them if any resolution is to be expected. --FLO--

Because of upcoming legislation, banks and credit cards are grabbing as much as they can, before the legislation takes place. They are raising rates and declining to waive fees, trying to get all they can before then.

A friend is sending me $106. As soon as it arrives I'm going to Credit Union to open up an account :) It will be plenty of time to change over my Social Security checks from WFB to Credit Union :)

Dont count on lots of time... getting stuff like routing numbers changed with SSA can sometimes take weeks.

And you must be the one to call SS to have the new routing number changed, I would call SS the day you get your new account.

Sorry Mac, that you're having so much trouble with WFB I have a friend that had the same problem with them to the point they were taking about $2,000.00 not kidding just for ding fees, This was half of his check. ( he's crazy) , A Disabled Vietnam Vet. Dependent on pain killers and WFB just takes advantage of him.

I'm Glad to here you're able to change banks hang in there.

:realpisse You know they lay awake at night just thinking how to stick it to people, I hope the government just regulates the hell out of them....

When it rained last Monday, my roof had a few leaks and some wiring got wet. Roofers patched it. I lost power in my den, bedroom and front porch.

My question is: will the power return to those rooms after the wiring dries out?

At the moment, I'm running my computer, modem, desk lamp and phone modem from an orange extension cord hooked into a working living room plug.

I would check if there is a tripped circuit breaker. If it is not a breaker you could have some real problems. Loose connections. That can cause a fire.

MacTheWolf (imported) wrote: Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:08 pm Friday morning I told mom I was going to the Humane Society to get a rabies shot for my white german sheppard. The trip took longer than I thought and mom, of course, panicked. She frantically called 911 saying, "my son is missing, my dog is missing, and I'm all alone and scared." When I arrived home, the police were awaiting me. They chewed me out because my house was cluttered, messy and overrun by mice. Office on aging showed up ten minutes later followed by Adult Protective Services.

I was given a choice: allow them to take mom to a hospital for 10 days to two weeks or go to jail for charges of "elder abuse." I accepted the former and they took mom away. Cops and A.P.S. said mom could return when house is both uncluttered and mouse free.

Uncluttering and general house cleaning is the easy part. I plan to spend one day cleaning each room. Mice wise, I'll need to have the house tented and fumigated. During fumigation, dogs can stay in back yard but cat and I need to find a cheap motel for 24 hours.

Today I cleaned her room and discovered all her blood pressure meds, nerve meds and sleeping pills were missing. I panicked. When I visited mom at psych ward tonight, head nurse reassured me they had all of mom's meds. Would have been nice if they had told me as they were taking mom's meds from the house.

Anyone know how much they'll charge to tent a house?

No. I used to know what "they" would charge to "TENT" my pants, but I don't get around much anymore...

My rainstorm had been predicted to be the Storm of the Century for my area but it turned out to be only as bad as Saddam Hussein's Mother of Battles: One day of hard rain and three days of drizzle.

On the plus side, my roof didn't leak and a few plugs began to work again.

The sheep traps were needed so this wolf could have the added warmth of fleece on these cold nights, cold being a relative term to anyone living back east.

Not as bad as I expected as I had some research to complete on history. However, if the time had been weeks instead of days, I'd be a basket case by now.

No River, I didn't start out as a basket case :P
