I found a website for Adult Protective Services, a wing of the Office on Aging. Tomorrow, when Liz isn't here, I'll email them a description of my situation, without giving my name, just to see if I have (1) grounds for them to intervene (2) and to see if the threat can be removed immediately.

If all they do is accuse Liz etc, I'll have to face her wrath till they decide to take action. Honestly, I might not survive that long nor would my computer which, at the moment, is my only link to the outside world since "my phone" is kept in their room and I rarely am permitted to use it.

I think Tugon is correct. It is time for a restraining order against your parasites. You have been threatened. You have cause to believe that your boarders may be sellling illegal drugs. They are preventing you from communicating with the outside. The police have been at your house repeatedly.

This blog is an excellent diary of your interactions with Liz et. al. Suggest you go through last year of so and print or copy to disk or flashdrive all your posts on this blog recording police visits, threats etc. Take that evidence to the court to support your case. Please keep us posted.

This was a rotten night. There was this woman in my house causing trouble so I ordered her to leave my house. She refused.

The problem: I couldn't call the police because my phone was broken. GRRRRR

I discovered something last night that everyone else already knew - despite what you see in television programs or movies, you can't contact emergency services like ambulance, fire or police via your personal computer.

Alas.

P.S. I also found out last night than Liz's daughter, Jeanette, has been entering my bedroom and stealing my food and money.

When I can afford it, I'm going to get a lock for that door.

Well, the

turned out to be incorrect . Today, I sent an email off to one of the County supervisors to see if he could direct me to an APS online service. I told him I might have a situation of elder abuse but I mentioned no names till I am sure action will be taken.

I gave him a description of my situation and some of my complaints which I will list below: BTW, I had to type in spurts so I would not be caught complaining by Liz or Jeanette.

I am a 64 year old man living in my mother's old house. I live on Social Security and SSI which is barely over $800 a month. I'd prefer to live alone but...therein lies the problem.

* Two years ago I let a mother and daughter move into mom's front bed-room. It was meant to last only a few weeks but things change. Liz is in her early 50's and has never held a job. Her daughter, Jeanette is 16, and is very lazy.

* They invite 'their' friends into my house without asking me. Many are people I'd never allow in my yard.

* They have never paid me rent nor helped with the utility bills.

* Since they broke the toilet in the front bedroom, they all come in to use mine.

* The police have raided my house once, so far, and they arrested Liz (outstanding warrant) and her son, Clifford DeGroot (drug posession). The police handcuffed everyone in the house then EXCEPT me. I liked that.

* They cost me extra money every month with added water usage, added electricity usage, etc.

* They won't allow me to lock the dead bolt on my front door for which I have the only key. I did lock it a few weeks ago and I was threatened till I unlocked it.

* I rarely have a beer but Liz drinks beer daily and is often drunk and abusive. I've been coerced into buying her some beer to keep her pacified.

* Despite my objections, her daughter has smoked marijuana in the front bedroom.

* My front door is often unlocked at night and sometimes all-night which scares the hell out of me.

* Often when they go out, the doors are left wide open which means the flies come in and my cats get out.

* I rarely have access to my own phone which is kept in their bedroom. Since my old phone was broken, all I have now is a speaker phone which is loud and means I can't make any private calls.

* Liz told me a few weeks ago that if she found I was complaining about her, my computer would be smashed.

* Lately, her 21 year old son and his current girlfriend stay in my house both WITHOUT my permission.

* I found out last night that Jeanette has been breaking into my bedroom at night to steal my food. I did have enough to last till July but not now.

* Both Liz and Jeanette keep late hours often till the wee hours of the morning meaning my house is unlocked.

* Liz takes no responsibility for her daughter who curses, slams doors, stays out all night and hasn't attended school in two years.

* Since they moved in two years ago, several things have been stolen: mom's fancy coffee table from Italy, mom's real silverware set (108 pieces), my two rifles (a .22 and a 30-30), a heavy extension cord, my safe, etc.

* Since they've been here the following have been broken: two front windows, one toilet, two phones, two bathroom doors that no longer lock, a garage that burned down, two broken sink drains and now a broken water heater. I haven't had hot water in weeks.

* Living in my driveway is Monty Miranda, Liz's estranged husband. Monty is a dumpster diver and brings junk here. He has turned my driveway and my backyard into his own junkyard.

* Monty usually has 3-4 grocery shopping carts in my driveway at a time.

* I've been hesitant in the past to notify senior services, the police or Adult Protective Services because of Liz's threat to smash my computer. I have ten years of historical research on it that I can't afford to lose. Plus, I can't afford to buy another computer.

I probably have more complaints but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Mac, only you can take care of this problem, CALL THE POLICE order them out of your house. File charges against them, show them your last post.

OMG my friend, you need to get them out of your house now.

Or is it time we called Guido? to make a friendly visit to them, threats seem to work with them.

Just thought of something, have the police bug you, then order them to pay rent or get out, when she starts her abuse, the police arrive.

Some of this advice is unrealistically naive.

Police come after something bad has happened, and may or may not take

any immediate action. In no case do they ever undo, repair or replace broken stuff or broken bones.

Almost everyone knows that threats (unlikely) issued by the police or social services are seldom followed up.

In Mac's case the police have been there before because of Liz, Monty, etc. And they did nothing helpful.

Possibly the best bet would be if they could move Mac to a shelter, and he could pursue eviction. If he was out of the house he could also have the utilities shut off.

We all love you Mac, but it's hard to help from afar.

Adult Protective Services told me in an email that I have a case. I'll let them handle it now. They are going to arrange a meeting between me and an APS social worker in neutral territory

I'll see how it goes from there. I'm optimistic.

Due to recent thefts by Liz's daughter, Jeanette, I was out of food and cash today, so I walked over to Jack in the Box and hoped.

I told the manager I was short of funds and he gave me two burgers, four tacos and a large soda and said to pay him next Tuesday.

See, there is an advantage to going to the same place every morning for over a year

Well, it's Monday morning just past 10:00 am and nothing has happened yet but I'm still optimistic.

Money-wise, I apparently screwed up royally last month. When I used an ATM yesterday to check my balance, it said minus $30. Since all I use is a debit card, and you theoritically can't spend more than you have, how could I go over?

In either case, a friend sent me $25 to my PayPal account which I transferred to my bank account. When I checked my balance today, it said minus $5.

Well, that's better than minus $30 - heh heh

I was hoping my check was in but alas, not yet.

I'll just put off eating for another day as my check should be in tomorrow.... hope hope hope -

I just now sent off another email to APS telling them NOT to call me by telephone since I have no way to receive a call without everyone in the house hearing my conversation. I told them to email me.

They should be emailing me soon....... I hope.

I just heard back from APS a few minutes ago via my email.

They said it looks my situation has reached a crisis point and they were assigning me a social worker.

They also received emails about my situation from my friends in northern California and Canada

They also said they won't do anything that will put me at risk

If you have access to a camera and can do it without arousing suspicion, you would be well advised to take pictures of your house and grounds, your computer and anything else they might trash when evicted, just to prove the condition of everything. That way should they trash anything you would have proof of a crime they could be charged with.

A social worker just called me via telephone. I told him I had no privacy and told him to email me. He said he would.

I just heard from APS again via my email. They said they have contacted Code Enforcement, the Police and other agencies on my behalf.

They also said a Detective Madden would be emailing me

I'll keep you updated as I hear more.

I'm very hopeful for a peaceful resolution to this fiasco, just feel like this action should have been taken a long time ago, but such is life.. :/ I'll be praying for you Mac

As of Tuesday morning, I haven't heard from Detective Madden.

I emailed my contact person at APS and asked if I could have the detective's email addy so I could contact him.
