I received two email messages today:

(1) APS wanted to know if I could meet my social worker at Jack-in-the-Box. I said, "yes, notify me of the day and time and I'll be there."

(2) Detective Madden contacted me saying he wanted to talk about my situation. I asked him to pick a place in town and I would meet him there.

Things are looking brighter :)

I am glad things are starting to happen. I am sure you will be glad to get your house back. I hope you do not have too far to travel but I am sure the effort will be worth it.

Nah, only about 11 blocks total, I can walk that easily.

Okay Mac-

You need to be COMPLETELY forthright with these people. When You and I were discussing your problem, you kept telling me that Liz was no longer there and that Monty was your only problem. When the police Sgt and I spoke, I told him Monty was the only problem, then you posted something about Liz and her kid being in the house. It really made me angry that you were not straight with me.

Up until that point I was willing to drive out there and handle the situation directly, but then i felt like I was being set up to fail, so I dropped it.

The social worker and the detective have heavy case loads, if they feel like you are giving them the run around or an incomplete story, they are going to put your file on the bottom of the pile. So please, please, please tell them the whole story. They will be better equipped to help you then.

You only get one chance with these people.

Lurker, Liz and her daughter never left. They've been here for two years straight. I never said they hadn't. From time to time in the past, Monty has been a bigger problem than Liz*or her family. But, as I'll tell the them tomorrow, I want the following people off my property: Liz, Jeanette, her son Cliff, his girlfriend, and Monty. I want them all gone, gone, gone

I just now returned from the meeting downtown.

Monty wise, the police are coming out later to disconnect him from my house. Code Enforcement will follow up later and tow away his motor home.

Inside wise, the news is less encouraging. Both APS and the Police said I have to file eviction papers on my boarders before they can do anything. They both said they couldn't take immediate action because I wasn't personally being threatened, they were just threatening my computer.

They did have two suggestions: (1) to have my phone shut off and(2) to move somewhere else for a few months and have everything shut off. #1 is easy. #2 is impossible.

Monday, I go down to Superior Court to get eviction paperwork.

Not saying you shouldn't file the eviction papers, but I would guess it isn't going to be pleasant around your house for the month or so it takes to get them out. You can't serve them with the papers one day and expect them to be out the next.

You might consider buying and installing a deadbolt on your bedroom door, one you need to unlock with a key, so you can keep them out of your room when you're not at home and keep them out when you are home. You might also get a prepaid cell phone and cut off your other phone. You might need it, in case you need to make a 911 call, if nothing else.

You're right Slammr, it's definitely NOT going to be pleasant during the month after they are served :(.

I can afford a dead bolt. Actually, I need two dead bolts, as my bedroom has two doors. Problem is, I don't have the skills needed to install them.

I'll look into getting a pre-paid cell.

Thanks for the suggestions mon ami, they are appreciated.

I hope you can find a way to install locks. If you have them and have them locked, and they break into your room, you can call the cops on them, charging them with burglary.

Mac check to see if this is available in your area.

https://www.safelinkwireless.com/Safelink/

I see this advertised and with your income level and health issues if it is available I think you would qualify. I have not looked into it myself but have seen it advertised.

A man's home is a man's home.. It does seem like you can tell them all to leave and they should go.. You are not related to any of these people and if told to leave they should go. You have endure this long enough. It is time to think of MacWolf himself and take care of his needs.

Well OneBallBoi, according to the police, they've established legal residency. It matters not that they've not paid rent nor utilities. I can legally evict them, however.

I'm not looking forward to living with them for a month from the time they are served to the day they leave. I doubt if my computer will survive those thirty days and I'm not positive I will either. Alas.

Sounds somehow familiar. Is there a homeless shelter there?

Actually its a good thing they have never paid anything, otherwise they would have a case for joint ownership.

WalMart and Target have inexpensive cellphones from "Tracfone" that have a certain number of minutes and a timespan. They are also available from the net. If you have time someone might even send you one, if your mailbox is safe.

Unfortunately, mom let the Homeowners Insurance lapse two years before she died.

strongly suggest if you can find a way, get it started again. you could easily be out on your ass with nothing but a burnt house, no clothes, no place to stay.

I would if I could but my monthly of $820 barely covers my utilities and food as it is.
