Oh, more good news.

Code Enforcement was just here and hit me with another $600 fine.

$200 because I left a green trash can outside my gate one day after trash pickup. $200 because I need to plant grass on 25% of the law. There's a third $200 fine but I haven't figured out what the violation is yet.

Monty was supposed to bring me some fried chicken yesterday but he didn't. Out of hunger, I searched his trailer while he was gone and found a few interesting things. He had a brown, wooden box on a tall shelf. Inside the box was $5.00, what looked like white crystals and two glass pipes.

I tossed the crystals into the toilet, broke the glass pipes and confiscated the $5.00. Now, I have food for two more days :)

Am I devious or what?

The police just now left my house. Monty needed extra money about a month ago and invited his buddy, Gabriel, to live in the mobile home with him. Gabriel is a 68 year old guy who looks 88.

Now it seems, Gabriel is driving Monty batty with his yelling and complaining. Tonight Monty supposedly smacked him which sent Gabriel off on a screaming binge....at 1:00 am. The neighbors were complaining, Gabriel was yelling and threatening to kill Monty and burn down the neighborhood.

So, I called the police. I take fire threats seriously since my homeowners insurance expired when my mom was alive.

Normally, Gabriel and I get along great. When he's sober, he's polite and brings me ice.

As I've said before, Never a dull moment at the Wolf Mansion :)

Monty is screaming his head off and making pseudo threats: Liz talked the owner of the apartments next door to taking a truckload of Monty's junk to the junkyard - for free. Liz and her friend, Rueben, tilled the soil in my front yard so grass could be planted. She also trimmed the bushes on the left side of my house to please the neighbors and Code Enforcement.

Today was a good day :)

I received a letter from the Tax Collector today. It appears I have defaulted on my taxes. I have to pay $345.65. They said if the amount is not paid by within 5 years from 6-30-2011, the County will sell my property.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Start saving now.

Even if it's a clerical error, you will NEVER convince them of that.

Today, I called Edison to put $100 on my electric bill. To my suprise, the electric company no longer accepts Visa, only Mastercard. I never realized a public utility could afford to be so picky.

Today was one of my best days this year for several reasons:

(1) Code Enforcement came by and said my property has greatly improved looks wise so they closed my case :)

(2) I called Edison to tell them I couldn't pay my electric bill without going hungry for the rest of the month. Edison said, "no problem, pay us on October 1st"

(3) My doctor finally renewed my sleeping pills. I had been out for two weeks and my past sleep had been both eratic and non existant.

(4) I went to see my doctor and she told me I had shunk from 214 pounds three momnths ago to only 206 pounds this month.

(5) Last night in chat, my friend and fellow chat moderator, Wetherman, gave me leads to my historical research I had overlooked. I told him I was reading about Brook Farm and he referred me to Zoar Village in Ohio which lead me to rediscover groups like the Shakers, Harmony Society, Owenites, Fruitlands, Amana and the Onieda Colony :)

UGH - I'm in the third day of my first cold in several years. Just running nose and sneezes. No coughing as long as I refrain from smoking :)

My cold is almost gone - woo hoo

Last night in chat Moi warned me that a big wind was coming. I thought he meant some bag of hot air like Rush Limbaugh, nope. About 10:30 pm last night, high winds hit my neighborhood and blew hard for the next 5 hours. All my windows blew open as did my front door. Normally, I love wind but last night was something else :)

At 10:37 pm tonight, a young hispanic forced his way into my house and was armed with a gray firearm. He proceeded to rob the front bedroom where Liz lives. He didn't bother me or threaten me in any way.

Liz refused to call the police so I'm going to call them tomorrow from a pay phone.

I'm still shaking.

See, never a dull minute at the Wolf House

She probably ripped him off on a drug deal. I was living in a house where the same thing happened, but I was in my bedroom with the TV on and didn't find out about it until it was all over. Although my housemates - the ones that got robbed - didn't admit it, I'm sure drugs were involved. They never called the cops either. They knew the guy; and he robbed them at gunpoint.

Thanks Slammr

On the plus side, my historical research tonight reached a minor milestone: 602 pages :)

My years of inner-city living inform me that Slammr's view is plausibly sadly accurate. Tragedy seems to be thriving in the world of today.
