What's your name?
"My name's Roosevelt E. Roosevelt."
Roosevelt, what town are you stationed in?.
"I'm stationed in Poontang."
Well, thank you, Roosevelt. What's the weather like out there?
"It's hot. Damn hot! Real hot! Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking."
Well, can you tell me what it feels like.
Fool, it's hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It's damn hot! I saw - It's so damn hot, I saw little guys, their orange robes burst into flames. It's that hot! Do you know what I'm talking about."
What do you think it's going to be like tonight?
"It's gonna be hot and wet! That's nice if you're with a lady, but it ain't no good if you're in the jungle."
Thank you, Roosevelt. Here's a song coming your way right now. "Nowhere To Run To" by Martha and the Vandellas.
And if you want to hear Robin Williams do both characters:

The only thing I could do to relieve you from the heat.
Re: One Day in the Life of a Wolf - Memorial 7-25-20
I liked Good Morning Vietnam.
I have got to watch this again. SO good.

You're right FLO, it was 117 today. I'm melting, I'm melting
Re: One Day in the Life of a Wolf - Memorial 7-25-20
It was 102F here in town today.
I am ready to head back north. Once you're used to this desert heat, 80F is really time for the long underwear.

My condolences Paolo, 102 isn't any Indiana picnic.
On the brighter side, Liz informed me today that she and Jeanette have to appear in juvenile court next Tuesday. Liz has to explain (1) why her 17 year old daughter was on the street at 3:00 am (2) why she was buying a controlled substance and (3) why her daughter hasn't been in school in the last four years.
I think Liz might be looking at jail time.

Jails are overcrowded, so it might not happen; however, while they are in court, change the locks.

gareth Long ago, someone suggested let the utilities expire and they'll run out of there. No gas here for 6 months and no water for 1.5 months. They're still here. Lockwise, I never gave them a key.

Google says it was only 113 in my town, then again Google isn't almost 66 years old. in the heat i went grocery shopping and picked up my Rx at the pharmacy. I didn't mind the walking. I did mind the pools of melted people i passed there and back.

I called the city water department today to see what it would cost to get water during this heat wave. They said my bill was only $699.01.
Heh heh heh it looks like it's going to be a long hot and dry summer

A friend just brought me a paid receipt from the water company which 'says' they paid $699.00 on my water bill. I'll find out by Monday morning if it's legitimate or if I'm being scammed.
Till Monday, I won't count my chickens until they're hatched.
Isn't it terrible to be both old and suspicious?

Have you ever investigated what the market value of your property would be if you sold it? It might solve some of your problems.

While meaning no disrespect, my life experiences have informed me that not being reasonably suspicious is terrible, regardless of one's age...
My brother never had the chance to become old. For his children and wife, THAT was terrible.
I keep finding the terrible problems of getting old (if, that is, I am getting old) preferable to the terrible problems of not getting old.
Perhaps I simply am not yet old enough to know any better.
And I sure do hope that the receipt is real!

Well, it's only 90 F. at 11:30 pm which is better than the 110 it was earlier.

As of 11:00 am this Monday, no water yet. I called the water department which said, " a payment might have been made but they haven't received it yet." They said to call the third party vendor where the payment was made.
I tried to call Green Shack Liquor Store, where the payment was made, but I couldn't find the number. When I had a car, I made my utility payments at Green Shack often.
Alas.

Alas.
At 12:05 pm, my brain finally engaged and I looked up the number of Green Shack on Google. The nice person at Green Shack said, "it takes three business days for the bill to reach the water company. Thus Wednesday would be the earliest that I might have water."
