Re: Insurance and HRT?
Why would you volunteer that you were castrated by choice? If you are not local to Dr. Arnoff, then there is no reason that you need to reveal that you chose to be castrated. To get T , you need only to see your regular doctor, although an endocrinologist is a good idea.
Say to the doctor what ...

Re: Insurance and HRT?
Check out the copay cards that most drug companies have. Its possible to end up paying much less on the copay when you have one and tell the pharmacist. And I just wanted to add a comment about "voluntary castration." If it was not voluntary (in some fashion) it could only be involuntary castration ...

Its such a double standard. When women lose their Ovaries they don't go into shame mode. Its so.... dumb.
Re: My life
Don't try to tough out pain. Its one thing I've learned from surgery. oxycodone or whatever they give you can be a real life saver. If it makes you feel a little loopy? Who cares. Hang in there on the boredom stuff. I totally am getting that. Day time TV is just about the worst...
Re: My life
I just wanted to send you our best wishes and hope that everything goes perfectly. Hang in there. The life with no hormones is a rough one. I hope the Zoloft makes things better. That stuff does really help I think...
I didn't tell Mrs T about your GRS date but I'm sure she feels the same way.

Re: Major life changes
Humm... Have you asked your therapist about your being puzzled about there not being any attempt to cure GID? If your thinking along those lines maybe that is worth exploring? Asking about it won't hurt anything and at least exploring this may be a good step so you don't have future regrets?

Whew I'm feeling like you and I are in a mirror (over) researching stuff on the web!
I'm sorry your feeling so much stress. If I can suggest one thing work on THAT first and the rest should be a breeze!
I'm saying a prayer this all resolves itself quickly.

Re: Taking the Plunge.....Again
Hormones are indeed the wiring that helps make us who we are and many people who are thought to be "depressed" are simply having hormone issues. However its totally possible to have both hormone problems and some kind of mental health issue as well.

After giving it some thought, I decided to delete the very serious parts of this post. For the first time, it was not therapeutic for me to write about certain things. What follows is much shorter than the original. :)

I really get uptight when I read about "watchful waiting" Prostate cancer maybe slow acting in some men but it killed several of my relatives in just a few years. Watchful waiting is all fine if your an insurance company that doesn't want to pay out for treatment.

Hi Plix:
Sorry I've not been around much. I've been working my ass off at a pretty low paying job and dealing with all the day to day life issues. I guess having friends who are transgendered makes me think I "get" it which.... I'm sure I don't but I like to think I do. ;-)
