Depression responds well to treatment. Treatment usually involves more than one mode of therapy at first. Medication alone usually does not deal with all aspects of depression though later it seems sufficient. Take care of yourself. You have endured a lot.

I sometimes have those traits. except that I am more likely to eat too much of the wrong foods.MacTheWolf (imported) wrote: Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:43 am Today was better panic attack wise. Yesterday I had taken two Benadryl and I think that was too many. Today, I won't take one till bedtime. I did get 4 hours of naps
I have noticed a few changes:
(1) When I'm at the store or restaurant, I get nervous if the room isn't cool enough or I'm terrified of crowds of strangers.
(2) I've lost my appetite for food and have to force myself to eat.
(3) I have less inclination to smoke or drink.
Weird huh?

No tobacco in three days and I went two days without a panic attack. One hit last night around midnight but I kept it controlled by deep breathing through my nose all night. Lost a night's sleep though. Oh well.

Didn't Shakespeare say, "to sleep, perchance to dream..." I'll pass on the dream part, I just want to sleep. No sleep here for three days
My first follow up Dr visit is Tuesday. I'll beg her for anxiety /sleep medications.

Right now I would think some smoking would be good for you. Your body has gone through a lot. Removing smoking cold turkey will what I am told can cause all types of anxiety or panic attacks. Going on a program to cut down may be a smarter way at the present. Some smoking may help your sleeping problem.
I sure hope so.

I actually did have two pipefulls yesterday. No sleep last night but after the nurse left at 9:30am, I slept till 3:00pm woo hoo.
One side note, a traumatic injury seems to be a great way to lose weight. Before the fire, my weight was about 231. Today it was 201. I'm wasting away.

Re: One Day in the Life of a Wolf - Memorial 7-25-20
Strangely, my phone is working today but it seems it's a hit or miss thing. No Verizon person ever showed up.
I have been meaning to walk a mile north to pay my bills and stop at Radio Shack and get a cheap plug in phone so I can install my VOIP system. Everyday that I had planned to go, I had no sleep the night before.
I find my depression is directly proportional to the amount of sleep I get: last night I slept two hours and slept from 9 this morning to 3:00 this afternoon and I feel like my old self except for a gamey hand.
I'm still on the Paxil but not sure if it's working.
This Tuesday I have two medical appointments. 10:30 am with the family doctor the hospital assigned to me. I'll kibbutz her for some anxiety meds.
2:30 pm with physical therapy at the hospital to fit me with a glove that I'll be wearing 23 hours a day. This glove is supposed to help the hand-arm heal better.
P.S. I injected my own insulin today. That's a breakthrough for me as I hate/fear needles.

Paxil will not immediately solve your problems. It takes time. Insulin, I hope I can avoid that.MacTheWolf (imported) wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2008 9:15 am Strangely, my phone is working today but it seems it's a hit or miss thing. No Verizon person ever showed up.

I walked my two miles in 101 F.heat today, paid three utility bills and picked up a new phone.
Now I'm enjoying a beer and a pipeful.

I received a bill for my surgery and stay in the hospital: $81,000. The bill did say I owed nothing since I have Medically Indigent Adult status.

That price is over double the price of my cardiac bypass surgery.MacTheWolf (imported) wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2008 1:45 am I received a bill for my surgery and stay in the hospital: $81,000. The bill did say I owed nothing since I have Medically Indigent Adult status.

I saw my new family doctor today. She gave me two bits of good news:
(1) she prescribed a sedative so I can sleep at night.
(2) She said I no longer have to take insulin injections. I take pills from now on.

The negative effects of the sedative Trazodone are cotton mouth and stuffed up nose.
The positive is 12 hours sleep. Gawd, I love to be able to sleep again

Blaise, IEunuch, Ken_SD, plix, tugon, and many others are my brothers and role models.
River is family but, since he is so much older than me, I think of him as my father or grandfather
