This is why I keep saying we need a 'playground' to experiment in... My thought as to a possible approach would be to look at whether we could do a script that would simply act to post messages (or threads) as a user... Effectively something like your story posting bot, only probably a bit more ...

If needed - I can try writing parsing script to clean it up (similar to a way I parsed stories). Python and BeautifulSoup can go a loooong way.

Converting formatting into phpBB formatting can be pretty easy. After that - it should be drag and drop, more or less. But I am not sure how to preserve ...
